Ruby Que – March 2024

Please join us in welcoming March 2024 resident artist Ruby Que! Ruby is the first ever Ma’s House resident artist staying at “The Cottage” as part of our partnership program ‘Nourishing Reciprocity’ with artists Hope Sandrow and Ulf Skogsbergh to whom we are grateful for allowing us to expand our capacity.

Ruby Que is an installation artist primarily engaging with video, sculpture, writing and performance. Their work has been shown at Kavi Gupta, Comfort Station, Co-Prosperity Sphere, and Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art amongst others. They have been awarded residencies at Vermont Studio Center, ACRE, Ellis-Beauregard Foundation, and are currently a HATCH resident at Chicago Artists Coalition. They grew up in Hong Kong in the lingering shadow of colonialism, and now live and work on the unceded homelands of the Council of the Three Fires: Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi, known as Chicago. They program for festivals and independent cinemas such as Centrally Isolated Film Festival and Sweet Void Cinema. Que holds an MFA in Film, Video and New Media from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA in Comparative Literature from Cornell University.

***Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 27th for Ruby’s “Distance of the Moon” public program and outdoor projection at Ma’s House (More info to be announced)***
