Ayasha Guerin – May 2023

Ayasha Guerin is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and curator who lives between Berlin and the unceded territory of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations, colonially known as Vancouver. Dr. Guerin holds a Ph.D. from New York University, American Studies.

Ayasha Guerin was inspired to apply for a residency after a visit to the Shinnecock oyster hatchery and the Shinnecock kelp farmers last summer. She hopes to connect with Shinnecock activists to learn more about how to support their efforts, such as the growth of the Niamuck Land Trust, in her capacity as an artist and educator.
