Shinnecock, NY – Ma’s House is pleased to present a solo exhibition and performance of new works by Marchresident artist and poet Edo Tastic. The exhibit will run from March 19th  – March 22nd, 2022 with an opening reception Saturday, March 19th from 5 – 7 p.m. The exhibition will feature visual art and poetry inspired by Shinnecock’s landscape and fauna fused with Tastic’s effort to create space within oneself using poetry.

Edo Tastic was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and moved to his grandparents’ farm in the Dominican Republic at age two where he lived for the next six years. On his eighth birthday, he came to live with his parents and siblings in New York City. Harlem, raised, is a product of the concrete beauty and arts that surrounded him as a child.  Poetry has been his life since fourth grade, reading The New Kid on the Block. In 2017 he self-published Effects and He Was Here, both books available on Amazon. Bloomingdales commissioned 26 poems for their stores in Soho and permanently in the East 59th Street Store. Currently, he hopes to publish some of the other poetic memoirs in the BURPS Series. There are currently nine BURPS altogether, six not yet published. He continues to seek opportunities to bring poetry to new crowds, create poetic experiences that are both visual and auditory. To date, Edo has released three auditory visual poetics. Childhood Nuances, Star and Sayin’ Things. Available for viewing on YouTube. During the pandemic of 2020, he produced his first independent poetic short film, Abducted: A Living Poet. The short film is not yet released. Edo hosted seven poetic readings on his own. Showing showmanship and providing a full experience inviting other creative guests. The readings center around a systematized setlist. He has been featured in readings with New Voices and The Inspired Word. He has read his poetry in venues like Cafe Con Libros in Brooklyn and Bluestockings in LES. In poetry, Edo finds love that is immortal and unconditional. Poetry for Edo manifests a guide, ingredients for survival, derivative emotional intelligence, creative ways to understand and cope with human psychology. Embraced by poetry, he seeks to get closer to Tao.
