Artist Talk with Durrell Hunter

July 5 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Join us for an intimate evening with Durrell Hunter, a contemporary artist whose work bridges realism and abstract expression. Durrell’s work is on view as part of the exhibit Shinnecock Speaks, on view at Ma’s House from July 7 to September 7, 2024.

Durrell, 38, has been drawing since childhood, inspired by the world around him—from the faces of people to the sweeping vistas of landscapes.

As a Shinnecock Native American, Durrell’s art carries a deep connection to his heritage, aiming to immortalize his tribal members and ancestral lands for future generations. His work is a vibrant tapestry of influences, seamlessly blending elements of realism with abstract forms to create pieces that are both poignant and thought-provoking.

During this event, Durrell will discuss his creative process, the sources of his inspiration, and the significance of his cultural background in shaping his art. Whether you are an art enthusiast, a fellow artist, or simply curious about the creative journey, this talk promises to offer fascinating insights into the mind of a dedicated artist.

Light refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!
