Bandelier Bag Workshop with Shinnecock artist Denise Silva-Dennis
June 23 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Fully beaded, two years in the making, Bandolier Bags originated among the Algonquin-speaking nations of the Ojibwe, Chippewa, Potawatomi, Ottawa, and others.
Originally the bags were smaller and were primarily used by men as hunting pouches. Over time the bag and designs grew bigger, featuring floral motifs, berries, geometric shapes, and animal depictions.
The Bandelier Bags we will make are made from leather. Stencils and permanent markers will be used as each participant creates their unique design. Since we don’t have two years to complete our bags, beads will be stitched onto various areas to enhance the design.
RSVP REQUIRED – 12 seats available – All Materials Provided – Open to the public
