Loom Making Workshop Led by John Blassingame

RSVP Required- Please join us this Friday, January 12th from 6 – 9 pm for a loom-making workshop led by John Blassingame. John is a Shinnecock artist who specializes in various bead and leather work. During this week’s class, he will be teaching participants how to build a wampum bead loom!
The loom is an object used by various cultures around the world to weave blankets, clothing, rugs, and jewelry. The loom’s purpose is to stabilize the threads to cross-weave using yawn, silk, nylon, and other materials.
The looms that will be made in the class will also be used in a follow-up workshop to create wampum belts using clay beads.
Participants must RSVP! 10 spots left due to limited material and cost over two workshops.
