Natural Dye Workshop with Jaleeca Yancy

Explore your creativity and nature with artist Jaleeca Yancy, studio resident of Ma’s House. Get your hands dirty with natural dyeing! Learn about the medium by turning your fabrics and clothing into beautiful works of art. Take part in making a textile using foraged plants from the Shinnecock Indian Reservation in South Hampton. The workshop will cover the basics of natural dying and resist dye techniques. The work created will culminate in a community fiber quilted collage to be donated back to Ma’s House or Bridgehampton Museum. Each participant will leave with a dye recipe card. All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary. Please bring white/tan cotton or linen facbric to contribute to the workshop (does not have to new, can be old or recycled fabrics i.e. t-shirts, sheets, scrap fabrics, ect.).
