Shinnecock Portraits | Faces of a Living Culture – Group Photo Exhibit at Ma’s House

April 8 @ 8:00 am - May 20 @ 5:00 pm

We are pleased to announce our upcoming exhibit at Ma’s House titled “Shinnecock Portraits – Faces of a Living Culture.” The exhibit will feature a stunning collection of photographs of Shinnecock people captured by talented Shinnecock photographers. In addition, we will showcase a series of archival Shinnecock photos that offer a glimpse into the rich history of this vibrant culture.

The exhibit promises to be an immersive experience with dynamic programming that explores the intersection of photography and archival work. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the art of photography and how it has been used to document and preserve the Shinnecock culture over time.

We are proud to celebrate the Shinnecock people’s living culture and highlight the vital contributions of Shinnecock photographers to the world of photography. This exhibit is a tribute to the resilience, creativity, and beauty of the Shinnecock community, and we invite all to join us in this celebration.

Throughout this exhibition, weekly workshops will focus on classes that explore the intros to photography, free studio and portrait photography days, and archival scanning practices and get-togethers. We are seeking sponsors for these events and/or volunteers to help lead the programming; please email us at mashousestudio@gmail.com

“Shinnecock Portraits – Faces of a Living Culture” will be on view by appointment at Ma’s House from April 8th to May 20th.

We look forward to seeing you there!
