Huang is a multicultural artist based between New York, Italy, and China, who incorporates elements from far-reaching and contrasting eras of time and influences. Having lived in different countries from childhood to the present, she has always embodied different sets of conflicting identities that undergo daily negotiations of habits and rituals.
Huang has a background in classical music and dance and blends elements of Chinese and Italian historical culture into contemporary online performances and painting installations. While drawing upon a myriad of highly specific lineages and influences, Huang aims to create a multilingual and universal art that can be understood by anyone.
During the residency, Huang plans to research and incorporate Shinnecock history/land conflict into their work and create an exchange of ideas and methodologies.
